Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about drink spiking, how to look out for signs, and protect yourself.
What is Safe Venue Standard and what exactly do I get?
Safe Venue Standard is a practical safety framework designed specifically for the operating reality of bars, clubs and music venues. It's not just training – it's a complete system that gives your business: trained staff, an internal safety protocol for responding to drink spiking, an incident framework for documentation, a visible Safe Venue label at the entrance, a certificate, a listing on the Safe Venue Map, and consulting support for crisis situations.

The framework is built around three steps that guide staff response: Watch Out (notice risky situations), Listen Up (take guests' concerns seriously), and Act (respond quickly using a clear procedure).
What are the pricing tiers and what's included?
The program is available in three tiers based on the size and location of your venue:

Start – 12,000 CZK
– for smaller bars, pubs and venues outside the city center. Includes in-person training (1 h 30 min), digital methodological materials, a digital certificate and printable sticker, and a listing on the Safe Venue Map.

Safe Standard – 18,000 CZK – for medium-sized businesses, bars and smaller clubs in Prague. Includes everything from Safe Start plus a physical certification sticker (visible venue label) and 1 mystery check.

Safe Premium – 25,000 CZK – for larger clubs and premium venues in the city center (Karlín, Vinohrady, downtown Prague). Includes everything from Safe Standard plus a highlighted position on the map, social media promotion, and 3 priority mystery checks.
How long is the training and what does it look like?
Training takes place in person at your venue and lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes across all packages. It's hands-on – not a theoretical lecture. Staff learn how to:

recognize the signs of drink spiking in real operating conditions,

communicate with a guest in a crisis situation,

respond safely so that both the guest and staff are protected,

apply the internal protocol when a guest suspects spiking, becomes suddenly disoriented, is being taken away by someone, or is unable to give informed consent.

After training, staff receive a visual diagram of the safety steps (physical copy) to display in a visible location during operations.
Who is the program designed for?
The framework is designed to work in real operating conditions – during busy nights and under pressure. It's built for:

bars and pubs,

nightclubs,

music venues,

event spaces and coworking spaces hosting events,

festivals.

If you're not sure which tier fits your venue, get in touch and we'll recommend a package based on size, location and operating profile.
What is a mystery safety check and why do you run them?
A mystery safety check is an anonymous evaluation visit that verifies whether your staff are prepared to respond to a risky situation in real operating conditions. It's not a trap – it's a tool that helps maintain the standard and gives you feedback on where the team can still improve.

Safe Standard includes 1 mystery check; Safe Premium includes 3 priority mystery checks per year. Results are internal – they serve you, not a public scorecard.
What is the “partner screening” and do we have to pass it?
Yes. Before signing a contract, we run a screening – a check to confirm the venue meets BLURRED's ethical and reputational standards. As standard, we review the public reputation of the venue and its key people, the history of incidents related to personal safety, business affiliations, and how the venue has communicated about safety and victim protection so far.

Reasons that may lead to rejection include, for example: proven cover-ups of incidents, NDAs used to silence victims, public positions that normalize violence or sexism, or structural ties to organized crime or extremism (typically within the last 36 months).

The screening protects you and all other Safe Venue partners – the certification only carries weight when it's backed by a network of trustworthy venues.
What happens if an incident occurs at our venue? Do we lose certification?
An incident itself does not put your certification at risk – drink spiking can happen even at the best-prepared venue. What matters is how you respond. If you follow the protocol, document the incident and act transparently, that's exactly what Safe Venue Standard prepares you for.

Throughout the partnership, you have access to consulting support – in case of suspected spiking or a crisis situation, you can reach out to our team and we'll help with next steps and with communication toward guests, media and social platforms.

Termination only happens in serious breaches of the code – for example, actively covering up an incident, pressuring victims, or repeatedly ignoring the protocol. For less serious findings, you'll receive a written request for correction with a deadline (typically 7 days).
What marketing and business benefits does certification bring?
Certification is not just a safety measure – it has a direct impact on operations and revenue:

Safe Venue Map on blurred.cz – listing in the publicly available map of safe venues (highlighted position for Safe Premium).

Visible label at the entrance – a signal to guests and groups that you take safety seriously.

Safety signal in restrooms – a sticker reading “Not feeling okay? Tell our staff,” making it easier for guests to ask for help.

Social media promotion via BLURRED's channels (Safe Premium).

Targeting higher-spending clientele – statistically, women decide where the group goes out in roughly 70% of cases. If a woman doesn't feel safe, the whole group leaves. Safe Venue businesses attract guests who look for quality and safety.
Why bother with this? Isn't drink spiking overblown?
It isn't. One in three people in Prague has encountered drink spiking. And even if your venue saw no cases in a year, a single incident handled unprofessionally can trigger a media avalanche in hours – a single TikTok or Instagram video can seriously damage a reputation you've built for years.

Drink spiking is therefore not only a safety issue. It is a reputational and operational risk. Most venues want to handle these situations professionally but lack a clear procedure. Safe Venue Standard fills that gap – so that when something happens, you get a professional response instead of chaos.
How do we get started and how long does the process take?
The process is straightforward:

Contact – email us at info@beatsexism.com with information about your venue (type, size, location) or via blurred.cz.

Consultation – we'll discuss which package makes sense for you and agree on a training date.

Screening – the partner screening takes place (see question 6).

Training – in person at your venue, 1 h 30 min, ideally with the full team or shift.

Certification and labeling – you receive the certificate, stickers and other materials; we add you to the Safe Venue Map.

Ongoing support – mystery checks, consulting in case of incidents, material updates.

From first contact to certification typically takes 2–4 weeks, depending on your team's availability and the scope of the package.
